The short answer

Packetless does not collect or transmit personal data or usage data off your device. The app does not request Internet permission, create accounts, display ads, or include analytics, telemetry, remote crash reporting, or tracking systems.

1. Scope and developer

This Privacy Policy describes the privacy practices of the Android app Packetless (application ID com.dottorquantum.packetless), published by DottorQuantum.

Packetless is an offline conversion tool. There are no Packetless user accounts, and DottorQuantum does not maintain a remote user database. Therefore, no account-deletion procedure is necessary.

2. Data and content processed locally

To perform the requested functions, the app accesses only the files you select through the Android system picker or voluntarily share with Packetless. Depending on the contents of the selected files, they may include personal data.

Selected files

Images, PDFs, videos, audio files, and GIFs, used only for the analysis, technical preview, and conversion you request.

Technical metadata

Name, format, size, resolution, duration, page count, codec, and other information needed to offer compatible conversions.

Preferences

Language, theme, output folder, conversion options, notifications, and conversion-history preference.

Local history

When enabled, it stores file names and references, formats, status, sizes, duration, and any technical errors on the device.

This data is used on your device to provide the feature you selected. It is not sent to DottorQuantum or to third-party servers.

3. Network, trackers, analytics, and advertising

Packetless does not request android.permission.INTERNET. The release configuration also excludes android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE. The app therefore cannot independently upload files to the Internet or communicate with a remote service.

Packetless does not include:

4. Android permissions and access

Access Purpose Privacy behavior
Files and folders selected by the user Read original files and save results. Access is limited to items selected through system controls; the app does not request broad storage access.
Notifications Display the progress and outcome of local conversions. Android requests this permission when necessary. These are not push notifications, and no token is sent to a server.
Foreground service Complete lengthy processing while the app is in the background. The Android categories “media processing” and “data sync” describe the service’s local work; they do not indicate online synchronization.
Wake lock Prevent an active conversion from being interrupted by device sleep. It does not permit access to personal data or enable network communication.

For some operations, Android may retain permission to access the selected file or folder while the app remains installed. This allows a local conversion to be completed, retried, or reopened. You can revoke this access by clearing the app’s data or uninstalling it.

5. Voluntary sharing, providers, and third-party components

User-initiated actions

Packetless does not automatically share files or data. If you select “Share,” “Open,” or a similar action, Android passes the result only to the app you choose. From that point onward, processing is governed by the recipient app and its privacy policy.

Folders and services shown by the Android picker

The system picker may display providers installed on the device, including cloud services. If you intentionally select a file or folder managed by one of these providers, that provider may download or sync the content under its own terms. Packetless neither performs nor controls that transfer and still has no Internet permission.

Included libraries

The app uses bundled software components, including AndroidX/Jetpack, Media3, PDFBox-Android, FFmpeg, and LAME. They are used for the user interface, storage, and on-device conversions. In the Packetless configuration, they do not send files, analytics, or telemetry to third parties.

6. Retention and deletion

Item Retention period User control
Temporary files Only for the time needed to perform the conversion; they are deleted when possible and cleaned up at the next launch. They can be removed from “Temporary files” in Settings.
Conversion history It remains in the local database while the feature is enabled. It can be cleared or disabled in Settings.
Results in the app’s private folder They remain available until deleted or the app is uninstalled. They can be deleted from the app.
Results in a selected folder They remain in the selected location even after uninstallation. You must delete them using the app or the relevant file manager/provider.
Local preferences They remain until the app’s data is cleared. Clear Packetless data in Android Settings or uninstall the app.

Packetless has no remote copies to delete. Uninstalling the app deletes data and output files in the app’s private folder, but it does not delete files you chose to save in external folders.

7. Security, backups, children, and purchases

Security measures

Data minimization is part of the architecture: local processing, no Internet permission, selective document access, non-exported internal components, and sharing only when initiated by the user. Cloud backup and automatic transfer of the app’s private data to a new device are disabled.

The physical and logical protection of your files also depends on the security of your device, the Android operating system, your screen lock, and the apps or providers you choose to use.

Children

Packetless is not designed to collect information about children and does not knowingly collect children’s personal data. It does not include advertising, profiling, social features, or account creation.

Purchases through Google Play

Any purchase and related payment data are handled by Google Play under Google’s policies. Packetless does not receive or store card numbers, payment credentials, or banking information.

8. Changes and contact

This Privacy Policy may be updated if the app’s features, processing practices, or applicable obligations change. The effective date shown at the top identifies the current version. Material updates will be made available on this page and, where appropriate, in the app or on its Google Play listing.
